Seneca, a prominent Stoic philosopher, statesman, and playwright of ancient Rome, was born around 4 BC in Corduba (modern-day Córdoba, Spain). As an advisor to Emperor Nero, he played a crucial role in Roman politics before falling out of favor and ultimately taking his own life in AD 65 on Nero's orders.
